Tristian’s Toolbox

Insomnia has many causes and contributing factors that need to be taken into consideration. That’s why Tristian looks at your sleep from so many angles so she can address any underlying causes or external factors. Having a naturopathic background Tristian looks at the individual as opposed to prescribing a one size fits all approach.

Tristian is fully qualified in a range of modalities and offers you a wide selection of treatment options:

clinical-nutritionClinical Nutrition: Meal choices can play a big role in curing your insomnia. In the words of Hippocrates “let food be they medicine”. The importance of nutrition can not be underestimated. Tristian can show you the foods to eat and the foods to avoid in order to get a good night sleep.

During times of stress your digestion and nutrient absorption can be affected so the food choices you make are of great importance.  Your gut is directly linked to your nervous system and so that’s why digestive disorders often go hand in hand with stress and anxiety.

Tristian’s understanding of nutrition together with her love of cooking can help you make sustainable changes to the way you eat. Everything from meal plans, pantry makeovers, food diary analysis to healthy cooking classes. Discover a newfound enjoyment of eating and feel better for it. As an added bonus weight loss and weight management may follow as a natural result of eating low processed, high nutrient meals.

toolboxHerbal Medicine: Plants have been used for centuries to treat health and today herbal medicine is increasingly being validated by scientific research. So much so that many modern pharmaceuticals have been modelled or derived from chemicals found in plants. A great examples being the heart medication Digoxin which is derived from foxglove (Digitalis purpurea). Plant based medicines provides significant advantage over sleeping pills for both safety and long term effects.

Individual prescriptions for herbal tonics may be given after an evaluation of your overall condition. Herbal medicine may be prescribed for poor sleep, fatigue, hormonal imbalances, digestive disorders, anxiety and depression along with many other underlying problems. Tristian will work in conjunction with your GP when you are taking other prescription medications.

massageMassage: Massage has positive effects on health and wellbeing. It encourages sleep by opening blood vessels to the hands and feet in turn cooling the extremities, something that happens naturally before sleep.

Experience our signature back, head and shoulder massage as a complimentary extra when you purchase a package of 4 or more one on one consultations. Our massage is designed to leave you feeling refreshed, invigorated and relaxed all at the same time.

homeotherapyHomoeopathy: Homoeopathy is useful in the treatment of many forms of insomnia. It is sometimes preferred over Western Herbal Medicine due to the ease of use. Based on the philosophy of like cures like, an individualised remedy will be made to take in drop form as prescribed.

lifestyle-adviceLifestyle advice: What you eat, the amount of physical activity you undertake and how much stress you currently have in your life will greatly affect your sleep and overall health in general. Tristian will evaluate your diet, exercise and overall life stressors and work out a plan of action to specifically target your obstacles to wellbeing.

sleep-counselingSleep counselling: Depending on what type of insomnia you are facing, there are various strategies that can help. Sleep hygiene strategies, sleep restriction, light therapy, counselling and coping mechanisms are just some of the treatment options available.

bush-flowersAustralian Bush Flowers: Australian Bush Flower Essences meet the great need for remedies that help people address the issues of the 21st century – sexuality, communication skills and spirituality to name but a few. The answer to this need (which has come from the Australian plants), has been developed and researched by Naturopath, Ian White, a fifth generation Australian herbalist. Whilst Bach Flowers and Bush flowers both address a patients emotional state, some patients prefer Bush Flower remedies over Bach flowers due to the fact they come from Australian natives and the belief being they have more of an affinity to someone living in Australia.
