What conditions do we treat?
Conditions We Treat
Insomnia - trouble falling to sleep, waking through the night, waking too early.
Stress and anxiety – are a major contributor to insomnia as well as a range of other health issues. Worry, thoughts about the future, personal relationships, stress at work and finances are just some of the issues we treat.
Adrenal exhaustion and fatigue – When you don’t sleep you have to rely on something to keep you going. That’s why your adrenals start going into overdrive to pump out the energy needed to get you through the day. Unfortunately this in turn serves to deplete your energy which can lead to chronic fatigue and health problems.
Digestive issues – often go hand in hand with being stressed and wired. Your gut and nervous system are so interconnected that when you don’t sleep your digestion slows down to the point it can stop working, and this in turn leads to further stress and insomnia. It becomes a viscious cycle.
Hormonal imbalance – If your hormones are out of balance you may find yourself with insomnia. Menopause and perimenopause can affect your internal thermostat and play havoc on your sleep. Women of reproductive age also report sleep disturbances during the prementrual week and the first few days of mentruation (PMS insomnia) and if this is effecting your energy levels in the day we can offer you hormone balancing herbs and supplements.
Detox – When your system is full of toxins you may need a good clean out in order for your body to return to normal. A liver struggling to get rid of toxins is likely to cause disruption to sleep.
Nutrition and Diet – the foods we eat greatly affect our sleep. We need the right amount of nutrients to turn on and off gene expression as well as for the efficient functioning of chemical reactions in the body. A bad diet can have bigger consequences than you may realise.
Anti Aging – It goes without saying when you sleep you look better. One of the reasons is that when you are not sleeping you have excess cortisol flowing through your body and this in turn has a toxic effect that causes a cascade of consequences, one of them being accelerated aging. You really do need your beauty sleep.
